Gulfstream Lures High Jinks Jig (Pompano Jig)
It’s coming in on that time of year! The Pompano will be running up and down the beaches looking for food and they CAN NOT resist a good old Pompano jig. Pompano are some of the most popular fish to catch here in Florida during the wintertime. They come in really big schools and are so fun to catch, and even better to eat.
The Jigs are such a good bait because even though it’s kind of a goofy looking thing to us, to a fish it probably looks like a shrimp just fluttering in the sand trying to get away. The Pompano jigs come in three different sizes. They Come in a ¼ oz size, a ⅜ oz size, and a ½ oz size. The ¼ oz size has always been my go to but if you’re looking to really whip it out there in that surf the ½ oz size might be for you.
Don’t let the name fool you. These jigs aren’t specifically for Pompano. I Have caught a variety of species on these jigs. I’ve fished the Fort Pierce Inlet in the wintertime and have caught Pompano (of course), small snook, flounder, bluefish, and even big Redfish. My biggest redfish was caught on a pompano jig.
They are super tough jigs made out of a hard plastic and you can catch Tons of fish on the same lure as long as your line doesn’t snap or get cut off. I don’t have one thing bad to say about these jigs. Super affordable and they are made locally here in Florida down in Stuart.
