ABOUT
HISTORY
The history of the tackle shop is being pieced together as we go. Here’s what we know so far. If you know anything about the general history of our building or location feel free to contact us and contribute!
1930’s
There was a small fishing camp here, the tackle shop was not yet built.
1940’s
People were taking nets out onto the lagoon and netting full loads of snook and other commercial fish found here in the Indian River Lagoon. Vero Tackle’s building was constructed and acted as a home for a full commercial fishing outfit.
2019
This shop has always been a hub for fishing and water activities. Today we are proud to continue the legacy this place holds in helping our locals and visitors enjoy many activities on the Indian River Lagoon. Here you can see the boat slip, and cafe that has since been added on. The yellow building you see on the left side of the picture is the original tackle shop!
THE OWNER
Meet Chris Woodruff, the man responsible for all the fun and adventures experienced through Vero Tackle and Watersports. Chris is a passionate water enthusiast whose mission is to help you feel confident as you explore new ways to connect deeper with the natural world. When Chris began his journey as an entrepreneur in Indian River County’s Vero Beach, FL he opened Paddles By The Sea, a full-service stand-up paddleboard, kayak, and beach-going amenities focused on local business. Not long after Paddles By The Sea came to Vero Beach Chris expanded the dream into boating and fishing territories by purchasing Vero Tackle and Marina.
This is just the beginning for Chris as he has many plans to share the unique experience his brand has to offer with many other places and destinations across the globe.
